340B Drug Pricing Program

The 340B Drug Pricing Program, also known as the 340B program, is a federally operated program created by the U.S. Congress in 1992. It provides outpatient drug discounts to qualifying providers, patients, and facilities (The Commonwealth Fund [TCF], 2022). The benefit of the 340B program is to use the drug discounts for providers and facilities and pass along the discounts to qualifying patients  . This expands limited financial resources to reach more vulnerable patient populations. However, the program has challenges and controversies. In this brief course, you will learn the basics about the 340B program including its benefits and goals, types of covered entities and eligibilities, and its challenges and controversies.
