Fatima M. Smith works at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) as the Associate Director of Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute (GEHLI). Prior to her role at GEHLI, she served as the Assistant Director of Sexual & Intimate Partner Violence, Stalking & Advocacy Services and adjunct professor at VCU. As Assistant Director, she coordinated advocacy services for survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking and serving as lead advocate; supervised violence prevention and advocacy staff, and coordinated outreach education for a healthy, inclusive campus environment. Fatima also serves as a consultant for the University of Richmond Family Law Clinic and is a radio show host of Common Thread on WRIR 97.3. Fatima has a passion for anti-violence work, racial justice, and engaging folks in dialogue that ignites action for progress. She has ten years of experience in anti-violence work. Fatima was recognized as Richmond Times Dispatch Person of The Year honoree and VCU's Top 10 Under 10. Fatima is a graduate of George Mason University where she received a B.S. in Administration of Justice, where she founded the Mr. & Miss Black GMU Scholarship Pageant. Fatima received her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Ed has 30 plus years of nursing experience with clinical roles in trauma, emergency, critical care, skilled nursing, behavioral health, occupational health, home care, and is a certified clinical nursing instructor in North Carolina. Ed served as Director of Nursing for rural emergency services and physician practices. Ed earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Ed retired from the U.S. Coast Guard with 34 years served.
