Subject Matter Expert: Scottie Smith, Psy.D.
Dr. Scottie Smith is a former active duty Navy psychologist and a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) where she served with the United States Marine Corps 2nd Medical Battalion. She is a 2009 graduate of the Florida School of Professional Psychology, where she earned her Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) after completing a competitive Internship program at the Dallas VA Medical Center. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology (2007). Dr. Smith's primary clinical focus is on treating adults with a history of trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders from a cognitive behavioral framework. Dr. Smith is a passionate and outspoken advocate for veterans in her community and is a member of the Military Officers Association of America.

Lauren received her Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She has over 13 years of experience working in case management and counseling. She is a PhD student at North Carolina State University focusing on continuing professional education for adult learners.
