North Carolina Rules for Prevention of Seclusion and Restraint, and Use of Safety Interventions

The goal of this course is to train staff in both preventive and protective measures to ensure best practices are followed when building relationships in home, community, or residential settings. Our behavior is strongly influenced by the relationships we have with others. We build those relationships by communicating with people in many ways; through our words, our body language, and our actions. Positive relationships are the antidote to managing crises by use of restraining or secluding individuals. If restraint or seclusion is required, the material in this course will present rules and regulations regarding procedures for their use in individuals receiving services from hospitals, mental health centers, schools, or other agencies within the State of North Carolina.
